Car Perfume Usage Guide
Set up your hanging car perfume in a few minutes, get more fragrance whenever you want it, and keep the bottle safely screwed on for every drive.
Set up in 5 simple steps
You only need your car perfume bottle and its hanging cap with the cord.
- 1
Tie the cap to your rear-view mirror
Start with the hanging cap and its cord. Loop the cord around the rear-view mirror and tie it securely. Choose a length so the bottle hangs clear of your view of the road and does not knock against the windscreen or dashboard.
- 2
Remove the inner plastic cap from the bottle
The bottle comes with an inner plastic cap. Take it off before you fit the bottle onto the hanging cap.
- 3
Screw the bottle onto the cap, tight
Fit the bottle onto the cap that is tied to your mirror and turn it until it is firmly tight. Give it a gentle tug to make sure it is secure. A properly tightened bottle is the most important step of all.
- 4
First time only: turn it upside down for 30 seconds
Hold the bottle upside down for about 30 seconds, then let it hang upright again. You only need to do this the very first time.
- 5
Turn it upside down again whenever you want more fragrance
There is no fixed schedule. When the scent softens, or you simply feel you would like more fragrance, turn the bottle upside down again. Go by your nose.
Important
Keep the bottle screwed on tight
The bottle hangs for every kilometre you drive, so check it regularly and never let it work loose.
Why it matters
Jerks, bumps and the normal motion of driving can slowly loosen the screw. A loose bottle can fall and leave oil on your car.
How often to check
Check regularly — a quick check each time you get into the car is a good habit, and after any bumpy road.
How to check
Hold the cap steady and make sure the bottle does not turn when you try it gently by hand. If it feels loose, tighten it straight away.
While you are driving
Never reach for or adjust the bottle while the car is moving. Wait until you have stopped safely.
Good to know
Summer heat
Heat makes fragrance feel stronger, so you may need to turn the bottle less often in hot weather. Keep it out of a closed, parked car in direct sun where you can.
Rich or light scents
Rich fragrances such as oud, amber and saffron go a long way, so a little is plenty. Lighter, fresher scents are the ones you may want to refresh more often.
Protect your interior
Attar oil can leave marks on seats, leather, plastic and the dashboard. If any oil drips, wipe it away straight away with a dry cloth.
Keep it safely stored
Keep the bottle away from children and out of direct sunlight, with the cap tightly closed when it is not hanging in the car.
Quick fixes
The scent feels too strong.
Turn the bottle upside down less often, and keep it away from direct heat. Rich fragrances such as oud and amber are strongest, so a little goes a long way.
The scent has faded.
Turn the bottle upside down again to spread more fragrance. Check the bottle is still screwed on tight while you are at it.
The bottle feels loose.
Tighten it straight away. If it keeps loosening, check it more often, especially after bumpy roads.
I have spilled oil on my car interior.
Wipe it away straight away with a dry cloth, and avoid rubbing it into the surface.
